Science Made Simple

All of our soap is made with Coconut, Sweet Almond, Grapeseed and Jojoba oils. Some recipes also include Olive oil or Wheat Germ oil. We never use tallow (animal fat), though it does make a nice bar of soap. In the past, Palm oil was also used. Small Bear Soaps no longer uses palm oil after discovering the damage its production is causing the environment. In regards to scenting, we clearly list whether Fragrance oils or Essential oils are used. This is to ensure that there is no confusion on our buyer's end. Some soaps, like our Wake Up! Bear bar, are made with a blend of essential oils. These offer great scent combinations like fragrance oils, only without the synthetic bits that cause a negative reaction for some people. As it stands, the fragrance oils we use are all phthalate-free for your protection. Some folks trust them, Small Bear Soaps doesn't. Better safe than sorry! Sometimes a good scrubby bar is needed. In most cases, we like to use flax and poppy seeds. In others, we use finely ground oatmeal. We are currently working on a bar incorporating dead sea salts that will not sweat. Hopefully that will be completed soon.

Colors are fun, too. Small Bear Soaps uses natural (powdered) colorants, and never any liquid dyes.
